In other words, all dot MOBI websites should be developed to be accessed properly by mobile devices in accordance with the so-called “MWI Best Practices for mobile content” established by the W3C Mobile Web Initiative (MWI) in collaboration with the dot MOBI Registry. These involve how a site is being navigated, the way it is being displayed (form and size), etc.

The restrictions have raised some questions as the generic top-level domain name extension is the only one that specifies what devices must be able to open a website and the way in which this needs to happen, breaking the so-called principles of device independence, according to which a web page should be built in such a way as to be opened by most web browsers and devices, be they mobile or stationary.
